Sines x Detraform
Project: industrial design of over ear headphones
Cost: $33,000 USD
First payment: $11,000
Second payment: $22,000 (due 5 weeks after successful Kickstarter campaign completed.)
PHASE 1: RESEARCH & STRATEGIC DIRECTION
The Research phase is a period of information gathering, analysis and thinking in preparation for the concept design. By the end of this phase we will have a clear understanding of the scope of design and market competition.
We will familiarise ourselves with Sines brand and it's manufacturing partner's proposal. We will carry out both desktop and field research into inspiration and competitive bench marking.
Duration: 1 week
PHASE 2: CONCEPT DESIGN
Our concept design phase is a highly iterative process where ideas are generated, reviewed and revised until we have a design that meets the key aspirations and objectives. By the end of this phase, we will present 2-3 concept options. Visuals will be produced to help communicate each concept.
Deliverables: Signed off concept design
Duration: 3 weeks
PHASE 3: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
In this phase we will be refining the chosen design based on feedback from the concept presentation. Again this is highly iterative process where we will be refining the form, developing the detailing, refining the choice of materials and finishes.
Deliverables: Signed off final design
Duration: 3 weeks
PHASE 4: DETAIL DESIGN
Upon sign-off of the concept design we will produce a final drawing pack to allow the design to be prototyped for a aesthetic model. The drawing pack will include finishes and material schedule and 3D CAD.
Deliverables: Drawing pack
Duration: 2 weeks
PHASE 5: DESIGN SUPPORT (billed for separately)
To ensure the design is delivered to intent the design support phase is critical. This phase will commence from prototype production to final manufactured items.
Once the design have been approved for prototyping we will support the prototype production where required and revise the design from the feedback of the prototypes. This may require updating drawings, liaising with the manufacturer to reviewing of the first batch of production samples.
