“You should go on Dragon’s Den.”

I’ve been told this countless times since I began to built the Detraform empire. With big dreams and no funds to make them happen, it might sound like a good idea to appear on CBC’s most popular entertainment show, where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their business concepts and products to a panel of Canadian business moguls who have the cash and the know-how make it happen.

Here’s why I didn’t try out for Dragon’s Den?

#1. Kevin O’Leary would call me a Nothingburger.
#2. The remaining dragons would tell me the same thing they tell every entrepreneur with a one product portfolio, who wants the cash to control his own brand and bring the product to market himself. What they would say is something like, “If this product is so great, if this product is viable in the marketplace, then bring it to a brand or manufacturer that already makes related products, sell them the design and collect royalties.”

In fact this funding avenue is exactly what Detraform is currently pursuing. Stay tuned for updates on our progress.
